Hi Janice,
Thank you for your reply, nice to hear from you, I was beginning to wonder whether I was on the right track. My other thought was that he was from John Hulme of Sale shown at Moor Nook Sale on the 1841 census which is very near the Baguley border) who origionally came from Samuel hulme and Amy Holt, do you have anything on this branch? I tried to track all the Hulmes in this area at one stage but it was so confusing I gave up.
