MISS OLIVE ALMIRA COWLES was the daughter of D.C. and JULIA COWLES. She was born September l5, l859, in Decatur County, Iowa. She was united in marriage to CHRISTOPHER MITCHELL, September l7, l878, of Decatur County, Iowa. To this union was born one child, R.E. MITCHELL. After one year, MR. MITCHELL died and seven years later, OLIVE MITCHELL was united in marriage to M.S. HULLINGER in Decatur County, Iowa, March l8, l883. To this union were born six children, one dying in infancy.

MRS. HULLINGER has been failing in health for the past year. About a month ago, her sickness was pronounced the dreadful disease, cancer, and all was done that kind hands and medical aid could do to sustain life to no avail. God in His great wisdom saw fit to call her home, but she could say with Paul "Oh, Grave Where Is Thy Victory? Oh, Death where Is Thy Sting?"

She was taken on August 23rd to St. Joseph, Mo., there she departed this life August 26, l92l; being the age of 6l years, ll months and 2l days. At an early age she was converted and united with the Baptist Church at New Salem. In the year l9l4, she consecrated her life anew to the Lord and was filled with the Holy Spirit, continuing faithful until the end, admonishing her children to prepare for the soon coming of the Lord. She leaves to mourn her loss, a devoted husband and 6 children, R. E. MITCHELL, of Lyons, Nebraska; LOTTIE M. PARKHURST; WILBERT HULLINGER; ROY HULLINGER; ETHEL EASTIN and MERTIE RAINS, all of near Davis City. Also one step-daughter, JULIA A. KIRK, of Davis City, 2l grandchildren and 3 step-grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren, one brother, DELBERT COWLES, of Davis City and 2 sisters, LIZZIE KIRK and IRENA LILLIE, both of Santa Ana, California. Our loss was her gain. To know her was to love her. She also raised her oldest grandson, MARION PARKHURST, taking him when he was but fourteen months old, and he became so endeared to her that she raised him to manhood, and he is now married, living near Davis City.

Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon at the Union Church in Davis City, the sermon being preached by Elder Charles Dobson to a very large audience. Every available space was taken and many could not be seated, the church not being near large enough to accommodate all who desired to attend, and many stood outside. The floral offerings were many and beautiful. She was laid to rest in the Odd Fellows Cemetery.

A CARD -- We wish to extend our heartfelt thanks to all the friends and neighbors for their kindness and help in the sickness and death of our beloved wife and mother.
MARION HULLINGER,
FAMILY and RELATIVES.
