Dear Michael,
Have you checked Rootsweb.com & the gedcom of Tory Crook, "Tory's Treasures", she/he has your Nancy Hull Cralle married to Joseph E. Garlington.
Tory has 2 Hull's listed on the site in this family in VA, but I could find no direct connection, John & Elizabeth Hull.Perhaps your Nancy was named after a beloved Aunt, Uncle, cousin, great grandparent, either side of the family? Also, in VA there are 2 men who served together in the Revolutionay War, John Cralle & John Hull and that MAY be a connection.

Nancy Cralle thought enough of her middle name to pass it on to a daughter, Nancy Garlington, so...
Another possible connection in VA is during Revolutionary times John Cralle & John Hull were listed together:

Genealogy mysteries, sometimes one little clue leads to the correct answer.
Hope you don't mind the input, I wish I had the exact answer.
