I am not researching these people, just entering information. From the book "Charles County Maryland Court and Land Records, 1694-1722, Volume 3" by Elise Greenup Jourdan, 1995:

"Liber Z, page 272 - 6 Jun 1707; Thomas Hughs, master of 'Truelove' of Liverpool; burthen 100 tons now riding at anchor in the Potomas; rate 14 pounds per ton."

Liber H#2, page 214 - 18 Feb 1718; Peter Herrant records mark for heifer given his son John by his Godfather Even Hughs."

There are no other entries for this surname in the index of this book.
