I am looking for the family of Hugheses who lived in Liverpool in the mid 1800's. The family was originally from Ireland, possibly either County Mayo or Sligo. Males in the family were named Denis, Michael (Denis' son); Michael's sons were Thomas, Dennis and Patrick. There were also two daughters, Margaret and Ellen. Michael's wife's maiden name was Catherine Barrett, also born in Ireland, and the daughter of either Anthony or Hodgson Barrett. Michael and Catherine were married in 1842 in St. Peter's RC Chapel on Seel St. I believe that Michael died in Liverpool between 1851 and 1861.
Michael and Catherine were my great-great-grandparents; their son Dennis, born 1846, emigrated to the US between 1861 and 1870 and eventually settled in Scranton, PA. He married Catherine Mulderig and they had five sons, Frank S., Thomas, William A., Dennis (Daniel) A., and John V. If any of this sounds familiar, please contact me.
