George Matthews Hughes was born May 1865 in Smith Co., MS, the son of George Matthews Hughes and Sarah Lacy. The younger George Hughes married Mary A. "Mollie" Griffith 19 Mar 1884 in Lawrence Co., MS. "Mollie" Griffith was born 27 May 1866, the daughter of Elihu H. Griffith and Edna Saphronia Brister [my gg-grandparents]. "Mollie" died 29 Mar 1901 and is buried at the Pleasant Grove Methodist Church, Lincoln Co., MS. George and "Mollie" had at least six children: Henry Houston, Maude M., Oliver James, Sarah W., Eugene P., and Clara S. After Mollie's death, George Hughes married Rhoda Louisa Griffith, Mollie's younger sister who was born 10 Jul 1875 and who died 25 Jan 1963. George and Rhoda had at least six children: Willie Lyda, Stephen Lacy, Alma Troy, George Mathis, Walter Denton, and Beatrice. In the 1900 census George and Mollie and family were in Lawrence Co., MS. In the 1910 and 1920 censuses, George and Rhoda were in Smith Co., MS. In the 1930 census George and Rhoda were in Franklin Parish, LA. Can anyone help me with the date and place of George's death and the burial place(s) for him and Rhoda? I'd be grateful for your input. G. Buchanan
