Hughes sons of Ellis Hughes

I am trying to find what happened to 4 sons of Ellis and Sarah (nee Sharratt) Hughes. They were born in the Manchester area and family rumour has it that they went to America were they all died unmarried!!
They were Ellis Hughes (born about 1896), Edward Hughes (born about 1810), Henry Hughes born about 1810) and George Lewis Hughes (born about 1816).
Thay maybe went to America looking for gold and I wonder if there is any way of finding out what happened to them
