OWEN HUGHES, WELSH MARINERS - D. 1880
I saw this message on a mailing list regarding Owen HUGHES, a Welsh mariner.I have no further information, except that a memorial stone (C90) is in St. Eleth's churchyard for him and wife Mary; this is in Amlwch, Anglesey, Wales.

From a Headstone in a church graveyard, Amlwch, Anglesey, Wales:-
In Loving memory of Owen Hughes Master of the Barque
"LINDA" Which was lost with all hands on a voyage from Sundsval to
Gloucester, during October 1880 Aged 31 years old.
The only information I have of the incident is from Lloyd's Casualties List.
"CORK, Dec. 6, 11.40 a.m. - LINDA, - Name of derelict, with bottom upwards, copper fastened, towed into Queenstown harbour last week by Receiver of Wreck, is Linda, of Liverpool 311tons."
