Madisonville Democrat, (Monroe Co. TN) Wednesday, July 5, 1933, Page 2:
“Obituary---Mrs. Mary Huggins Thompson, daughter of Mr. & Mrs. Matthew and Eliza Carter Huggins, was born Dec. 16, 1860; departed this life June 19, 1933. She told her children at her bedside that she was ready to go.
She was married to William Thompson about 50 years ago. To this union was born six children, five boys and one girl: Earnest, Tassie Bell, John, Hugh, Matt and Willie Thompson. John departed this life 11 years ago, and her husband died nine years ago. She leaves one sister and 13 grandchildren besides her family to mourn her death. She was a kind and loving mother, and a good neighbor, and was always ready to lend a helping hand.
The funeral was in charge of Mr. Biereley of Madisonville. Services were conducted by Rev. McCrary at Hiwassee, assisted by Rev. Greene of Madisonville. Singing was by the Hiwassee choir.
The remains were laid to rest in Hiwassee Cemetery, under a mound of flowers.” ---Written by her Daughter-in-law.
“Card of Thanks---We wish to thank the many friends for the kindness shown us during the sickness and death of our dear mother. ---Earnest Thompson, Mrs. Tassie Fridley, Hugh Thompson, Matt Thompson, Willie Thompson.”
