Leonard's father was Willem Huff md. Elizabeth.
Leonard's father was Willem Huff md. Elizabeth.Willem's parents were Dirrick Pauluszen (Hoff), b. abt 1649, Netherlands, and Sarah Williamse Yeats, b. abt 1660, Flushing, Queens, NY.

Dirrick's parents were Paulus Dirckse, bn abt 1620, Luttenborg, Netherlands and Geertie Williamse, bn abt 1622, Netherlands.I've seen postings that Peter is the father of Samuel Huff instead of Leonard. The above is the line I BELIEVE is the correct one, but I have no original documentation to prove it.My only documentation is the family line shown in Footprints in Marion County (Marion County, IL Historical & Genealogical Society), Vol. X, Spring 1987, No. 4, pg. 42, which states "Samuel Huff (son of Leonard) married Sarah Hix 3 Mar 1773 in Bedford Co., VA."My other source is Miscellaneous Family Genealogy by Oscar Curtis, Bloomington, Monroe Co., IN 47401, which I obtained on microfilm (I'm sorry, I didn't write down the film number) from the LDS Family History Library in Salt Lake City. The account of the Huff men is on pgs 31, 34-36.It states "1774. In Lord Dunmore's War, Capt. John Lewis Company of Volunteers from Botetourt:
Sgt. Peter Huff
Pvt. Leonard Huff
Pvt. Samuel Huff
Pvt. Thomas Huff"
Those who believe Peter to be the Father of Samuel use this as one of their sources for their belief that Peter as the Sgt. would have been older. I'm inclined to think that as the older brother he was given the added responsibility. The two older brother's, William and Joseph, didn't appear to volunteer. Also, Peter acted as surety for Samuel's wedding to Sarah Hix.They believe it was because he was Samuel's father.I've found that older brother's were often the surety's at siblings weddings.

In his last paragraph he writes:
"Leonard Huff of Botetourt Co., VA, is believed to have been the son of Leonard Huff. Leonard, Jr.'s son Samuel settled in Marion Co., IL, and grandsons went to Texas.Samuel's children born in TN but moved to IL, were Talitha, William H., Nathan, Joshua, Rachel, Samuel Allen, Cynthia, and Berthena."For a long time I thought there was another Leonard, the father of Samuel's father Leonard.I think now he was assuming the son Leonard was Samuel's father, but that couldn't be because they were both Pvt.'s in Lewis's company together.I don't think the elder Leonard served. He would have been over 45 and would not have been required to serve in the militia.

As far as I've been able to establish, Samuel Allen is the son of Samuel and Sarah "Sally" (Hix) Huff.Samuel Allen md. Mary Ann Proctor and the children mentioned above were theirs. The entire family went to Marion Co., IL.Nathan took his family and went to Texas in 1855.The only child besides Nathan that is not buried in Marion Co., IL is the youngest son, Samuel Allen, who is buried in North Powder, Union Co., Oregon.I don't have that date as yet though.
