Orangeburg, S.C. & Berkely County, S.C. Huffs
I noticed that the Huff family were living in close proximity to my Taylor family on several census records. I do not at this time, know of any connection to the Huff family through marriage of the Williams or Taylor lines. If anyone does know of a connection I would appreciate it if you would share that information. Thank You.
Joseph Huff and Jacob Huff were on several Tax Returns and Land Plat documents I found in the South Carolina Archives.
Joseph Huff, had a plat for 200 acres in Charleston, surveyed by Thomas Platt, dated August 13, 1789.
Jacob Huff had a tax return for 400 acres and 10 slaves in St. James Goose Creek Parish, dated April 5, 1825
My ancestor John Taylor had a land plat for 1000 acres on Horse Range Brand, Cedar-Head Bay, Batchelor and Cat-Tail Brances, Orangeburgh District, surveyed by Dennis Gilmore, dated September 23, 1802. One of the names indexed on the plat was John Huff.
In 1790, Joseph and John Huff are both listed on the Orangeburg County Census records, living by the Bunch family, the Griffin family, the Gibson family and the Taylor family.
In 1810 William Huff is living next door to my ancestor Levan Victor Williams.
I hope this information helps with leads for some of the Huff family members.
