Samuel Henry Huff b abt Oct 1827 can't be son of James Madison
Samuel Henry Huff can't be the son of James Madison Huff b abt 1812 TN. If he gave his age right in Oct 1861 when he joined the army age 36(Oct 1825) that would have made James Madison Huff abt 13 when he was born. IF Sam was born in Oct 1825 that makes him James' younger brother. If you look at the children of Sam and Phoebe Huff their is a spot between Hannah b 22Jun1824 and John b 1827 that Sam Henry fits into very nicely. Once I get his Military Records I should know more. Sam joined first then Peter Trammell his father-in-law followed him a few months later to the same outfit. Then in 1864 they both left without authority and joined up with Peter Huff (James Madison Huff's son b 1844)in the Texas Cavalry. Wonder where they got the horses. May be why they don't show up in the 1870 census. Peter Trammell gave his age as 44 in Mar 1862 that would make him b bet 1817-1818 not 1820. The two year age change sure makes a lot of difference.
