I don't know if this information will help anybody but I just thought I would pass it on. My great great great grandfather was John Huff the bee tree locator in Jefferson County Iowa. Here is the connection with Susan Huff. She was the daughter of Francis James and Sally James. Sometime after the Civil War ended (before 1869) she married John Huff's son Jim Huff. The reason I know this is that their oldest son Elmer (my great grandfather) was born in 1869. He had two brothers Edwin and John. When they were real small their mother died and they made their home with the James; their father became a drifter and didn't take care of them. Their cousins I believe were the Pugsley children. One interesting side note about Jim Huff was that he also was a draft dodger during the Civil War and hid out in the Silver mines of Colorado. Eventually years later Edwin (who never married) was a bachelor and made his home with the Stever family (?) and passed away in Fairfield. Elmer migrated to Missouri with his family from northern Minnesota in the early 1920s and John migrated in the late 1800s to San Francisco where Elmerthought that he had perished in the great 1906 San Francisco earthquake. But in 1940 he came back east with his son in law who was transporting a prisoner from I believe Washington State and stopped for a visit at Fairfield. My grandfather corresponded with him up until I believe the 1950s sometime and lost contact with him. If anybody wants to know anything more about this side of the family please feel free to post a message and I will answer it if I know.
