Hello Cousin, My Hueys are from Chester County, Pennsylvania; my great (5) grandfather was William Huet, nee Huet, who came from County Antrim Ireland. He married, I don`t know here or over there but suspect the former, "Jane", or "Gennette", surname not known, said to have been a native of Wales. I`ve researched the Huet/Huet name in Scotland and Ireland and while there are loads of Hueys in Lowland Scotland and proportionally even more in Northern Ireland, I`ve never been able to establish a firm connection; and would dearly love to before I croak. What with the Scottish/French "Auld Alliance" (against the English) it is logical to suppose some Huet or other could have left France after the revocation of the Edict of Nance in 1685. (The Edict granted tolerance to Huguenots many of whom became Quakers here. The Hueys were Quakers.) It`s not much of a stretch from there to imagine a Huet, perhaps Williams father, settling in lowland Scotland and going from there to County Antrim which by then was heavily populated by lowland Scots thanks to the "Plantations" of British Protestants begun in the 16th century by that delightful Brit, Henry VIII. I like to think my ancestor William saw the handwriting on the wall and headed west to Pennsylvania before the "Troubles" started.. Obviously most of the above is pure speculation but it`s about all I`ve got to go on and isn`t altogether illogical. I hope it`s been useful. Best Wishes, Wis Huey Notify Administrator about this message?
