Your information is basically correct. The immigrating ancestor of the Hustis/Huestis family was Robert Husted/Hustis from England. He arrived first in Braintree, MA, the Fairfield Co, CT. His son went into Westchester Co, NY and the family has grown since then. Various surname spelling associated to the immigrant Robert are:

There were several Hustis/Huestis family members that fled to Canada during/after the Revolutionary war due to their loyality to England. In Canada they received land grants in Nova Scotia and New Brunswick and most are listed in the Loyalist registration lists for the areas.
