I'm looking for any information on my great-grandfather and his ancestors. I live in Carroll County Virginia. My grandfather and his mother both lived and died in Galax Virginia but I don't know where my grandfather was born. Unfortunately, I didn't have the desire to get into my ancestry until after he had passed.
My dad is William Donald Hudson born in 1953
His dad was Donald Gordon Hudson born in October 1926 I think and he died Feb 1993. He had a brother Richard "Dick" Hudson who was a train conductor and died fairly young with heart problems. He also had two sisters, Dixie and Tina (I don't know if those were their given names) but both are deceased as well.
My great-grandmother Helen M Hudson (born in 1900 died in 1978) forbid any conversation about her husband (Donald's dad) The only thing I do know is his dad's name was Rubin (I'm not sure if that's how he spelled it). I also know they lived in Cabin Creek, WV at some point and time and he was supposedly in the military, but I can't find any census records or any other family trees with this line of Hudson's any it. It's sad that I don't know who my great-grandfather on this side was. Any help would be greatly appreciated!
