Update (& correction):
I meant that Vernal was registered as Vernal Fairbairn HUDSON, not as John Fairbairn HUDSON.

Found William in 1851 in Wakefield, enumerated not far from wife Elcy's brother George FAIRBAIRN, along with two more likely children, Robert and Jane, aged 3 and 1 respectively.
Ancestry had been hiding him as Wm HERDSON.

William, son of William and Aylse/Elcy (FAIRBAIRN) HUDSON, and his wife Mary along with sons John and George are in Masset, BC by 1911, where it looks like William died in 1927.
It also appears that George is more likely a grandson than a son of William and Mary's as I couldn't find a George E HUDSON birth for the consistently provided date of 12 Feb 1899, but there was a George Eddy MISSIER, mother Dina, for that date registered Turtle Mountain, and Dina could well be Dana, shown in 1901 as daughter of William and Mary, but more likely Mary's from a previous marriage to MESSIER.

Interested to hear from anyone with anything to add to the data on these families.
And from anyone who can fit into the overall picture one William Fairburn HUDSON who married Jan 1882 to Mary (Marion in 1901) CLELLAND in Ontario, son of a George HUDSON and Elizabeth RAYCROFT.
William was supposedly born Renfrew, and appears to have met a sticky end in 1912 at Lake Joseph, Parry Sound.

I feel he has to fit into this HUDSON/FAIRBAIRN interconnected lot somewhere.

Regards
Lorna
