Ann/John, Ta for your combined postings. I've recently turned my attention to the sisters Helen/Ellen and Aylse/Alyce/Alison FAIRBAIRN who married the HUDSON brothers Henry Smith and William respectively. Your data finally allowed me to make a breakthru. I'd not been able to find William/Aylse after their 1848 marriage. Ann's 1908 Manitoba death for William led me to the census and BMD records for Manitoba, where firstly I found a marriage of a John Fairbairn HUDSON and Caroline Stocks GREEN in Turtle Mountain, 1897. In the 1901 census at Lisgar, Turtle Mountain, they are next door to a William of an age to be his brother (both are born Quebec). This family, William and Mary L HUDSON, had William's father William with them, shown as born 11 Aug 1825 in Quebec. Previous searches had not found father William HUDSON at all, all being explained when I noticed that ancestry had him indexed as William HUDSO (no N). I've lodged a correction. Not all of the HUDSON births for the two William and John families are immediately obvious in the Manitoba BDMs, but John's son Vernal with them in 1901, is registered as John Fairbairn HUDSON. Circumstantial evidence is therefore high that I've found two sons and some grandchildren, for William and Aylsie (FAIRBAIRN) HUDSON. For further info on the FAIRBAIRN side of this, check out both the Fairbairn Surname DNA Project, http://worldfamilies.net/surnames/f/fairbairn/ and my web pages, which I keep reasonably update to date as I check off/find more info. http://familytree.lornahen.com/spFAIRBAIRN.htm Regards Lorna Notify Administrator about this message?
