Obit of John Hudson, wife Rebecca

Was Among the Advance Guard of Pioneer Settlers in the County
"The venerable John Hudson, Iroquois county's oldest pioneer, passed away last Friday, April 17, in the hundredth year of his age.
He was one of the band of sturdy immigrants who came from the East in search of a new home upon the then almost unbroken prairies of the west long before many of the men who consider themselves "old settlers" were born.
He had passed the landmark of middle age before the breaking out of the war of the Rebellion, which forms the background of remembrances for most of what is now considered the older generation of men still living.
At that time the Indians still formed the bulk of the population and the primitive landscape was only broken by little patches of cultivated ground here and there. The homes were mostly log cabins, and all of the conditions of pioneer life were present.
John Hudson was born in Delaware Nov. 6, 1814, and was the son of John and Mary Hudson."
Most of the rest is very difficult to read.I can get this from the obit:
Mr. Hudson kept a store for while and then bought railroad land in Section 18, Belmont Township.Lived there until he came to Watseka a few years ago and had since made his home with his only son, William H.
Assisted Micajah Stanley in building the first cabin on land now occupied by the city of Watseka.
At age 36 went to California (1850) but returned to Illinois.
Married several times but survived his wives and all his children except William H.
Left three grandchildren and sixteen great-grandchildren
Mr. Hudson may have been married to Rebecca Page, who was possibly the sister of my g-g-g-grandpa Charles Page.Their father was Nathan J. Page born NJ died Watseka, Illinois.Rebecca married first Alexander Horner and second John Hudson Jr.
