Hi Lee,
I have corresponded with Mary Ann Horn in the past looking for a connection to the Hudsons. Here's my two cents which may muddy up the water a bit but tell me what you think.
My McDonald's originated in NC.I don't know the progenitor's name, yet(said optimistically). What I do know is that there were supposedly two boys and three girls. My William McDonald moved to Clermont Co., OH and married Mary "Polly" Higbee. One of the girls, Elizabeth, married Joseph Pearson and ended up in Warrick Co., IN.Another, Susan "Sukey", married a Hudson and ended up in Warrick Co. also.A brother John was supposed to have died at the Alamo but I can't find any evidence of that. I don't know anything about the other sister.
I don't know who the Hudson was that Susan married.I did find an entry on RootsWeb World Connect that has a Susannah McDonald born Mar. 1, 1781, died Nov. 2, 1849, buried in Wesley Cem., Warrick Co. who married William Williams born 1760 in Brunswick Co., VA, buried in Wesley Cem.An LDS entry claims that Susanna was the daughter of William McDonald and Amelia Retherford.Mary Ann had sent me a marriage record from Butler Co., KY for a marriage between William Williams, Sr. and Susanna Hudson on Jan. 1, 1817.She also sent the marriage records with the request for Rebecca and Amelia's marriages in 1816.I find it interesting that Susanna is making the request for the grants and not the girls father.Could he be deceased already? That would explain her marriage to Wm Williams.
I'm wondering if this is my Susanna and that she married a Hudson first and a Williams secondly. She's referred to in the old letter I have as "Susan Hudson".I found it interesting that your Amelia is supposed to be the daughter of Susanna and William Hudson. The name sure would fit if Wm McDonald and Amelia Retherford were Susanna's parents. What do you think about all of this?
Tracy
