Thank you John W.
The records for Amelia and Mecklenburg counties, Va. are great. The records for the Hudsons in these two counties not only give information as to where they came from when they moved to Amelia but also where they went when they left Amelia. It is records like these that makes a family researcher happy.
My grandmother was Margaret "Maggie" Tennessee Hudson. She was the daughter of William Young Hudson and Mary Elizabeth Franks who were married in Union Co., AR in October 1867.William Y. Hudson's parents were John Y. Hudson and Margaret Ann Goode Cox of Limestone Co., Al.
My grandmother's parents, William and Mary E. (Franks) Hudsons settled in Coryell Co., Texas where William Hudson died on May 5, 1883.Several of their children were born in Coryell county.I think they all were married in that county. My grandmother Maggie Hudson m. Levi T. Music in 1899 in Coryell county and she died April 19, 1915 when my father, the oldest was only 15 years old.The other children of Will and Mary Hudson moved away from Coryell County and my family lost contact with them. There are only three granddaughter from the marriage of Maggie Hudson and L. T. Music.Claydean of New Mexico, Maggie Ellen of Florida and Margaret Ann of Texas.(me)My cousin Clay and I began the task of trying to find descendants of the children of William Y. Hudson and Mary E. Franks our great grandparents. We felt our family hitory could never be complete with out these cousins. It has taken time and effort.A lot of e-mail messages, a lot of posts to Message Fourums in a lot of places but we have finaly made progress. This summer we have found several cousins and a lot of family data that we never knew about.
Now we are ready to start searching for our past.
Thanks to everyone who has provided us with information.I wish everyone could be this lucky in their search.
