That's very interesting and useful, Mary. I transcribed two separate editions of Sarah Frances ("Fanny") Hudelson's manuscript, known as both, "Hudelson Family History" and "Huddleson Genealogy." Both versions are essentially family tree data, but both also include factoids interpreted by Fanny --- who died in 1936. She tells about things in her possession, and the history of those things. She writes of family lore, etc.
I've never been able to learn if she ever claimed a copyright. The second (1950) edition was sponsored by a DAR chapter in Minneapolis and printed by a publisher in Salem,MA; I've not seen reason to believe it was copyright either. My own work transcribes both of them onto a single CD, with different fonts to differentiate between them. From what you recited, it appears I have not breached any copyright.
BTW, Hon. George Huddleston said in his book that his data on the "Series L" Hudelsons came exclusively from Fanny's work, and Fanny said in a 1935 letter that she had sent it to Hon. George. There's no evidence in his work that he had (or needed) Fanny's permission to use it.
