Susan- My name is Rex Phillips. I keep running across your posts in Brunswick, Lunenburg and for Moores etc. My oldest documented and DNA proven is Joseph Phillips who d. 1777 in Brunswick,Co. His wife's maiden anme is unknown but I believe that it was Moore. Two for sure and probaly 3 of their grandchildren had the middle name Moore (one a girl). One of Joseph's sons was named Sterling and I suspect that he was named after a brother. I have tracked the Moores as they migrated across Prince George Co., VA to Dinwiddie & Brunswick Cos. and know that Moores lived very near my Phillips in Brunswick. My Phillips married with James, House, Williams Sewards an Braswells. I suspected that my Phillips came out of Pr. George also but have not been able to substansuate it. However, the other possibility is Orange Co., NC. One of my close DNA matches (36 of 37) had his ancestors go from Charles City, Co., VA to Orange Co., NC in early 1750's and it is possible that my Joseph, b. ca 1725 was in that same area.
Would be happy to excahnge info with you. I have studied the Phillips of Southside VA pretty hard while working as an unpaid volunteer with the Phillips DNA Project.

Rex Phillips- Dallas
