Anna, all I sdaid is that James paid taxes in Norfolk County,VA in 1721, according to tax rolls. He is alleged to have married Elizabeth Charlton in England circa 1715, but I cannot prove that. He also is alleged to be the son of a John Huddleston of Lincolnshire, and the father of a John Huddleston born 1715 in England, who is alleged to have married a Sarah Brown. I have no proof of that, and that's what I said earlier. This John Huddleston is alleged to be the same John Huddleston who received a Land Bounty Warrant for service in the Virginia Militia during the Rev. War --- but he may not be the same John Huddleston. I don't know when James Huddleston came to America and I cannot prove he ever had a family. But I also cannot prove he "didn't exist," or that his family didn't exist. I suggest that my twenty years of research and your thirty will require still more research to resolve this question.
BTW, my DNA matches that of at least two Huddlestons who claim to be descended from James. I conclude nothing from that fact.
Dave
