Dave, It apparently is so according to my research. My family had no idea that the Hucklebery name was really Hagelberger - or variations of it until I started doing research about three years ago. I have an affidavit concerning a Civil War pension that clearly states that the family in question was originally named Hogelbarger,in the German way, but the children went by the American name of Hucklebery. Also, I later found church records and deed records listing both names interchangeably. The family probably came over from Germany in 1750's, but these changes were made in Civil War period.
