Question for Rebel Kreklow
RE: HUCKLEBERRY FAMILY PART I
Hello! Reading the information posted in your message made me shiver! My grandmother, Zella Huckleberry Hargis, told me stories about how her family immigrated from Germany. She told me that the family name was Haukenstiver or something like that! She told me about how one of the children died on route to America. She even told me how the family had twin
sons who sold huckleberries in town, thus acquiring the surname "Huckleberry".
My greatgrandfather's name was Alva Huckleberry. He was born 28 Sep 1882 and died Aug 1974. His first wife was Stella Crockett Huckleberry and they had a daughter, my grandmother Zella. His second wife was named Nola. My grandmother is dead now and I know little else but what I've listed.
My greatgrandparents lived in Boone County, IN. Alva and Nola had several children, including Stephen, Maxine, Mabel and Roscoe.
Could the Huckleberrys you described in your message possibly be relatives of my family? There seem to be so many similarities!
I'd really appreciate hearing from you.
Donna Brewer
