Hello Dave,
My g-g uncle was married to a Mary Ann Huckle b.13 Dec 1844 in England. She was the daughter of Thomas Huckle and Ann Wakefield of Botisham Swan, Cambridgeshire, Eng.
Mary Ann married John Cubitt SMYTH/SMITH. (The name changed back and forth a few times over the years.) The were married 23 Jan 1864 in Nanticoke Ont. Can. On the 1881 census for Hamilton Ont they are listed as residing in Ward 6 and have 6 children - more were born later. I have found three of the children in the CA. death records and another contact tells me that Mary Ann died in Winnipeg. On the 1881 census, John is listed as a bookkeeper and was apparently very active as layman in the Methodist church.
JOhn was the son of John W. SMYTH/SMITH of Wangford near Southwold, Suffolk and Mary SPARKHALL of Neatishead, Norfolk. John and Mary, the parents, came to Canada in 1832 and were married here by Bishop John Strachan.

I would like to hear from you if you know anything about Mary Ann Huckle.
