Last year I started searching ships records to see if I could find the first in this line to arrive. After nearly going blind (many are not indexed) I gave up. Other researchers indicate that this record cannot be found and I believe the Hardon and/or Bill's book give a reasonable explanation as to why this may not have been recorded. Most ship's masters did keep records of the early arrivals and I did find a Robert Hawkynns, age 25 and his wife Marie, age 24 on the Ship Elizabeth and Ann arriving in the early 1600's. My reference is from The New England Historical and Genealogical Register. Children are listed but none for this couple. I have seen other researchers list Marie Hawkynns or a variation as Robert's mother. Certainly could be a phonetic spelling. Has anyone else, perhaps Bill, researched this person to verify who he was?
