My maiden name is Huck.My great-grandfather, Adam Huck, was born in Huck, Russia in 1878.He was the only child of Phillip and Elizabeth Hixt Huck. His father died when Adam was one, and his mother remarried to Heinrich Hoffman.Adam married Catherina Frick in 1899, and they emigrated to Lincoln, Nebraska in 1902.In 1908, they moved north to Luseland, Saskatchewan, where I was raised.
Since Adam was the only child, and his father died so young, we have no way of knowing any connection to any other Huck's in America. There are some Huck's here is Saskatchewan, some of whom say they came from the same area in south Russia.
The Huck Village Coordinator for AHSGR was putting out a newsletter, but has stopped for financial reasons. One of the newsletters had pictures of present-dayHuck, or Splavnunkha. There are no longer any Germans living there.
