Joan,
He did serve in the War of 1812 from Tennessee.He was in a company of "mounted spies", which is essential cavalry scouts.There was also a John Hubbs in the same company, I assume his oldest son (my direct ancestor). No personal information, except name, is provided on the muster rolls.
Thomas's son William served in a militia company in Carrol's Regiment of Tenn Militia. He was behind the breastworks at the Battle of New Orleans.Also in the same company was a Barri Hubbs (another son of Thomas?).
In a geneological conincidence I had two ancestors from my Mom's side of the familiy in the same company at New Orleans.Two families, from the same community, serving together in the military, but not united in marriage for another 150 years, two states away.
