I too have Sheila's book and she and I have spoken, though it's been a few years back.I descend directly from Alma, who was known to his grandchildren as Frank. He was my dad's grandfather.
I spoke with my dad's aunt before she died at 99 and she was a wealth of information. She said that he was born on Feb 21, 1878 and moved to Hamilton (Cavella (?) Ave ) when he was 19.He opened Imperial Cotton Mill on Sherman Ave in Hamilton. She mentioned 9 children, though not all made it through childhood. If I can read my notes correctly she said her mother's name, Alma's wife (2nd I believe) was named Elizabeth Alma Seymour and was English. His children as I have them (from her...no birth certificates or anything yet) are Dorothy Mae (my dad's aunt Dot), Frank Alma, Gordon (died young), Ernie, Ella Viola, Eva (died at 3), Wilson Winfield (my grandfather), and Hazel the youngest)
She also made mention of meeting David Jeremiah Hubbard in Sailor's Snug Harbor and referred to him as a "big fella.Tall, straight"
She remembered, and told me stories of her aunts and uncles and their children (Alma's bothers and sisters, nieces and nephews)
It's been a couple years now since Aunt Dot passed and I only wish I could have written faster or had taped our conversations.
Hope this helps.Any info you have would be greatly appreciated.
thanks,
Cary
