Daniel Hubbard born 1750-69, lived VT
This is my problem.I am a descendant of Mary "Polly" Hubbard that married Benjamin Brooks in St. Albans, Franklin Co., VT, in 1808.One of their children was named Daniel Hubbard Brooks. They also had a daughter named Eunice.(I later found that Benjamin probably had a sister named Eunice.)
I happened across a DAR lineage book that had a Daniel Hubbard of the RW that was married to a Eunice Clark.Benjamin and Mary's daughter married a Palmiter and there are Clarks related to some of the Palmiters. So I sent for the DAR papers related to the Daniel Hubbard that married Eunice Clark.I found that they did not have a daughter named Mary, but that they had a son, Daniel, born 1766, who married a Polly Wright. This younger Daniel and Polly could be the parents of my Mary.Of Daniel Hubbard and Eunice Clark's children I found these connections to my family --1) They had a son named Solomon Hubbard.A Solomon Hubbard was in Richmond, Ontario Co., NY in 1820, when my Palmiters were in Ontario County. 2)They had a son named Moses Hubbard.I found a Moses Hubbard in Swanton, Franklin Co., VT in 1800 -- my Benjamin Brooks was son of Azariah Brooks who had relatives in Swanton as well as St. Albans. In 1820 there was a Moses Hubbard in Phelps, Ontario Co., NY.Phelps is where my Palmiters lived.3) They had a son named Israel Hubbard and it is this Israel Hubbard which lived in Newburgh, Cuyahoga Co., OH, where my Benjamin and Mary (Hubbard) Brooks last lived.
I have been looking for the proof of Daniel Hubbard and Polly Wright (her name is only from the DAR lineage papers -- can't find it elsewhere yet) being the parents of Mary that married Benjamin Brooks. One other piece of information we have is that a Daniel Hubbard filed (in 1807) a certificate with the St. Albans town clerk to the effect that he did not agree in religious sentiment with a majority of the inhabitants of the town. The Brooks also signed this certificate or one just like it.I feel certain that this Daniel Hubbard in St. Albans will turn out to be the father of my Mary.
Then I found this St. Albans Village land record (recorded in the index as Hobart, but signed by Daniel as Hubbard):
14/19 MAR 1811Daniel Hubbard of Burlington, Chittenden Co., VT, to Eleazer Brooks (uncle of Benjamin) of St. Albans, Franklin Co., VT; $530; land lying on St. Albans Point bounded as follows: beginning at a stake and stones at the corner of Thomas Dunton's land adjoining on the highway leading from St. Albans Bay to Bopquam thence running north 36 degrees East 95/45 rods to a stake and stones thence East 36 degrees South 60 rods to the line of N. Burton's land thence South 36 degrees West 112 rods to the highway thence west 36 degrees north on the road to the first mentioned bounds, also 1 1/2 acres of land lying on the opposite side the highway South of Thomas Dunton's land the whole said to contain 38 acres be it more of less.
Witness: W. or N. Burton
Thomas Dunton, J. P.Vol.5 pg.62
This record sent me on the trail of looking in Chittenden Co. VT.This is what I found:

-- Named for Horace Loomis?, the only Horace L. in Vermont on 1800 census(Chittenden Co., pg. 54)?This Horace Loomis b. 1775 Mass. d. 1865 Burlington, VT.M1) Lamira Burritt M2) Mary Chipman. No connection to Brooks found. --
Then I didn't find Daniel in Burlington in 1820, but found this:

1840 -- no Daniel Hobart/Hubbard in VT(Jehiel Hobart has taken his place around the neighbors from the 1830 census).
So you see, I am now totally confused. Both Hubbard lines had some connection to my Benjamin and Mary. But it looks to me like it is the Daniel associated with the Blood family that was in St. Albans when my Benjamin and Mary were married.I haven't found the other Daniel with connections in St. Albans, even though location connections existed later.I have looked for land records of Benjamin and Mary, but not found any witnesses, etc., that would give me a clue. This cousin (a third? cousin) and I have tried to find a probate for Daniel Hubbard without luck.I have written twice to Chittenden Co. but do not get any response. For what census records are worth -- a daughter of Benjamin and Mary gave the information (on the 1880 census) that her mother was born in Massachusetts.Other children in 1880 said VT.The Daniel Hubbard/Clark line is associated with CT, not Mass., and the Hobart/Blood line goes back to Mass.
Socrates Hubbard the (gr?) nephew of the Daniel Hubbard that married Polly Wright wrote in a journal that the only thing he knew of Daniel was that he moved to central Ohio where he died and that he had a son also named Daniel that was a Presbyterian minister.I have not been able to find either. Also I have found in Presbyterian church records from Durham, Greene Co., NY, that a Daniel Hubbard Jr. (no wife’s name) had these children christened there: Harvey 1798, Lyman 1808, William Clark 1814.This is where the Daniel Hubbard & Eunice Clark family attended, so I assume that Daniel Jr. is the son of Daniel and Eunice.. ie., possibly Mary’s father. So if this is the right Daniel, he was also in Burlington, VT, for the census in 1810 (listed two above Benjamin with Noah Hobart in between).
Advice welcome!
