I don't have the answer to your question
I am interested in the history of Penfield (Greene County) Georgia where Mercer University was founded.
The future Governor of Texas, R. B. Hubbard age 18, is listed in the Greene County census of 1850 in the household of Peter Northen. He was boarding there (along with many others) as a student at Mercer University. Interestingly, one of Peter Northen's sons (W. J. Northen age 14) became a Governor of Georgia.
The large, two story Peter Northen house still stands in Penfield Georgia. It is on the National Register as is about 400 acres of Penfield. The interior architecture shows the large number of small rooms used for boarding students - a requirement of anyone building on a Penfield lot in the Mercer era.
I would be interested in any information of Hubbard's student days in Penfield.
Near Penfield is "Hubbard Hill" - is this the same family?
