SilasManzer b~1804 NY m."Annette?"
Silas Manzer b.~1804 NY, just appears around 1860 in the town of Maryland, Otsego Co., NY. He is the only Manzer I've been able to find so far. He's on the census with a woman that looks to read like "Aenette" but I assume Annette? The "children" of the household are:
Calista Hubbard24y < poss.desc. of Gunn marriage?
Amanda Hubbard18y
Benjamin Manzer19y
"Albet?" Manzer11y < probably Albert?
One of my Aunts (Caroline Hester Dunham b.~1859) m. a Harley Manzer,.. they both died within weeks of each other. I have pictures of both and "The 4 Manzer Sisters" of the 1800s family photo album that is of my gg-grandparents Houghton/Dunham of the town of Maryland & it's village Schenevus. The picture of the Manzer sisters does not reveal their given names,.. and one of the young ladies has a hole in her eye (someone poked the pic or something,.. makes her look a little freaky). Anyhow,..
The only possible links to Silas that I have found so far are in Cherry Valley but then, I still have 11 more reels to look through. Wondering if there are any descendants of Silas out there that could shed some light on a Harley Manzer that died at 47 years old on March 16th, 1897, buried in the Schenevus Cemetery, m. Caroline Hester Dunham who died March 1st, 1897 at 36y of age. I wonder if Silas is his Dad.
And,... perhaps, like me, you have photographs of the 1800s that no one recorded the identities of,.. I could send pix of Caroline & Harley, you might have identical pictures of some of Harley's siblings? I have to wonder if he had 4 sisters!
I don't think that my Aunt Caroline ever had any children. There is a Clyde E. Manzer on the Memorial for Soldiers in the Schenevus Cemetery under the War of 1917-1919, listed right next to my 2 other Uncles, Willis A. and Walter M. Houghton. The 2 latter, Houghtons, were nephews of Harley and Caroline.
I have sent for a transcript of his death but I doubt they will find anything. If you have this pic of the 4 Manzer girls or know who they might be, I'd love to know - if you don't have a copy I can scan it. They are definitely of Harley's family because of the way they were presented in the photo album. It is possible that there was more then one Dunham-Manzer marriage.
I wonder why my Aunt and Uncle died so close together,.. if they were both sick, or if one was ill while the other's death an accident?
,... Rebecca
