My Benjamin has proven to be quite a challenge. I know there are a few of us that have spent years on this part of our family. I thought I would try again and see if any one has any new info. Seek info re: Benjamin Leonard Hoyt. He was born NY 1814 (age 66 in 1880 Fed Census). Dec 23. 1850 he married Mary Davis in Mason Co. Ill. He served Co E 27th Ill Infantry in CW.He was apparently disabled by 1880 (according to census. He and Mary had 4 children that I know of: Thomas B, William Alan, James H and Neoma Rebecca. Thomas B disappears after the 1970 census. I have info on the other children. I descend from William Alan's youngest daughter, Minnie Theora. At one point Benjamin is following the Mormon Trail. He is generally near Hiram, Horace, Dorothy & Sophia Hoyt. Dorothy is old enough to be the mother of B,H,H,&S. In the 1880 census it states that Benjamins mother was born in Vermont. Dorothy Hoyt was born in Vermont. She later lives with Hiram in one census and Horace in another. I suspect this group is related closely to each other but cannot prove how. A man in Henderson, Nevada has access to the old Hoyt Bible that proves how Benjamin relates to Alanson, Hiram and Horace. He is Dr Joseph Plautz, Jr. He has never answered any of my contact attempts. Good luck to anyone else that wants to try. Any help on ANY of the HOYTS above would be deeply appreciated!
