Per a 1778 deed in Anson Co., NC, Captain William Hoy obtained land, and a Mr. DeJarnett and a George Davidson were the witnesses. I can't help but wonder if this is the same William Hoy who is mentioned in this thread. None of the Hoy researchers SEEM to be aware that he was in Anson Co., NC before he went to KY (if this was really him).
An Edward Davidson and a George Davidson were also in Anson in the 1770s, and an Edward Davidson (almost certainly this same man in Anson) was a Lt. who served under Captain/Major William Hoy. Back in Buckingham Co., VA in 1773, an Edward Davidson, Jr. had been an overseer for William Hoy, and there was a later man named William Hoy Davidson in Anson Co., NC. Comments?
