Carle Hey Born 1669
Posted by: M Hoy (ID *****3935) Date: April 25, 2007 at 21:31:58

Carl Hey (Hoy) immigrated to America in 1751. He was born in circa 1710. His father was Carle Hey (born 1669). I have seen it stated that Carle Hey was born in Oldenburg Germany in 1669. I'm curious how we know he was born in Oldenburg. What is the source of this claim?
In a recently published book about the Hoy family evidence is provided suggesting this family came to Germany from France and had been previously known as the "de la Haye" family. De La Haye was changed to "Hey" in Germany and eventualy to "Hoy" in America. The de la Haye family were French Huguenot's.
