Karen, my great grandmother, Margaret Hoy, was originally from NY (Rensselaer County) but moved to Iowa around 1868. Her father, Patrick Hoy, and mother Catherine, immigrated from Ireland between 1833 and 1839. Her brother, Patrick Hoy, lived nearby in Hardin County, Iowa in 1870. Not sure if this could be any connection to your Hoy family member but have a little more information if you think there might be. You can write to me direct at marillt@bak.rr.com
Best regards,
Marill
