John, Thank you for your reply and the links. One of them I have seen and did find it useful. I believe my husbands Howland family is the line from Henry, not from Pilgrim John. I've also based it on records found online and through the local LDS library. I use Ancestry for the census, tax records, birth & death & etc where they apply. I've also found a lot of information through thier database card catalog such as the books "The Howlands in America" by William Howland 1939, "Old families of Mass." by J.H. Beers & Co 1912, and several other books including the Franklyn Howland book. You're right about being careful of childrens names in families, that goes for dates too, seems like a lot of children with the same names were born in the same years. Very easy to confuse.
