Nancy 'Howerton' - Martin Cox
Posted by: Kenneth A. Lester Date: May 14, 2001 at 05:42:29

I am exploring the possibility that Nancy 'Howerton', who married Martin Cox (1812 - Guilford County, North Carolina) may be the subject of corrupted surname spellings, inclusive of 'Howricon', 'Howerington', 'Howery' and 'Howington'.

Nancy was born 1795-1801 in Buckingham County, Virginia and passed away 1859-1870 in Seguine, Texas.

Martin was born about 1799 in Surry County, North Carolina and passed away 1851-1865 in Cannon County (or Overton County), Tennessee.

They birthed a child - Sarah M. Cox in 1815; she passed away 1892 in Madison County, Arkansas. Sarah married Lemuel James Duncan.

Does anyone researching 'Howington' have a history of the surname spelling/use?

Thank you for your guidance and response/s.
