Aaron (three of them); 1830 Monroe County, OH
In the 1830 census for Monroe County, Ohio, there were three households headed by an Aaron Howell.I need help sorting and/or connecting them. Here is what I THINK I know, but I need more info.
Aaron Howell (#1)
The eldest of the three Aaron Howells was between the ages of 60 and 70 in 1830 (Ohio Township, Monroe County, OH), and so born between 1760 and 1770.I believe he was the same Aaron Howell who appeared in the 1810 census for Ohio County, Virginia (now West Virginia), which is just across the Ohio River and slightly North from Monroe County, Ohio. His stats in 1810 were 2-1-0-0-1 for males and 1-1-0-1-0 for females.Aaron was the male over 45 (so born before 1765).Thus combining the age ranges from 1810 and 1830, Aaron was likely born between 1760 and 1765.Some researchers report that a list of Ohio County, Virginia marriages includes an Aaron Howell marrying an Elizabeth White on May 30, 1797, and I believe this is the same Aaron. On the very same page of the 1830 census as this Aaron were a Thomas and a James Howell.I believe this Thomas (b. ca. 1800-1801 in VA, per later censuses) and James (b. ca. 1806 in VA, per later censuses) were sons of Aaron and Elizabeth (White) Howell. In the 1840 census (for Ohio Township, Monroe County, OH), Aaron Howell appeared on the same page as James and Andrew Howell.I believe this Andrew (b. ca. 1818 in OH, per later censuses) was another son of Aaron and Elizabeth, because in the 1850 census for Perry Township of Monroe County, OH, this Andrew had in his household an Elizabeth Howell, age 73 and born in VA.I believe that this was Elizabeth (White) Howell, a widow, born ca. 1777 and who had married in 1797 to Aaron Howell.According to the census information, Aaron and Elizabeth (White) Howell also had a son and daughter born between their marriage (1797) and the time of the 1800 census, and then a daughter between 1800 and 1810 and two daughters between 1810 and 1815, names all as-yet unknown.Based on Elizabeth (White) Howell living with her son in 1850, it is reasonable to infer that Aaron died between 1840 and 1850, almost certainly in Monroe County, OH.
Aaron Howell #2
There is substantial information about this Aaron Howell, born ca. 1792-1793 in VA to Thomas Howell (and, probably, Aaron's mother was a first wife of Thomas, her first and maiden names unknown). This Aaron married Margaret Sloan and had a large family. He appeared in the 1820, 1830, 1840, 1850 and 1860 censuses for Center Township, Monroe County, OH.After his death on August 8, 1861 (per tombstone in Goudy Cemetery), there was litigation among his heirs to partition certain land.
Aaron Howell #3
This Aaron Howell was born ca. 1792-1794 in Virginia (per censuses of 1850 and 1860) and first appeared in the 1830 census for Ohio Township, Monroe County, OH, as age 30 to 40, so born 1790-1800.On the same census page as this Aaron were John and Andrew Howell, both age 30 to 40, so born 1790-1800 (and this is likely the Andrew Howell who appeared in the 1850 census for Ohio Township, Monroe County OH as age 52 and born in VA (ca. 1798)).It is my belief that this Aaron, Andrew and John were brothers; their parents and other siblings are currently unknown. This Aaron married a woman named Elizabeth (maiden name unknown), and appeared in the 1840, 1850 and 1860 censuses in Wayne Township, Monroe County, OH.This Aaron and Elizabeth had a large family, and Aaron wrote his Will on July 25, 1866 and died before January 29, 1869, the date on which the Will was probated.See Monroe County, Ohio Will Book 1, at page 49.
Now for connections.I BELIEVE that Aaron Howell #1 (b. 1760-1765) was the brother of Thomas Howell (d. 1825 in Monroe County) and thus was the uncle of Aaron Howell #2.
I further BELIEVE that Aaron Howell #3 (and his likely brothers, Andrew and John) were somehow related to the other Aaron Howells in Monroe, but I am open to suggestions on what the relationship might be.Can anyone help, please?
