John Howell and daughter Temperance (Tempe)

Does anyone have any documents stating that the John Howell that fought in the Revolutionary War is the father of Tempe Howell Chism (married James Chism, also from Laurens County).
James and Tempe moved to Monroe County, MS. The military record for John Howell does not list his wife nor any children. He was a Captain and fought with Col. Roebuck and rode with Captain Moses Woods in the Cavalry.
In the War of 1812 pension request from Tempe, it does not show her father's name. It does give her maiden name as Howell and gives the date she and James got married. It also list two sister in laws, Sarah being one of them, but I don't know Sarah's husband.
I would like to establish the fact that this John Howell is the father of Tempe Howell Chism so my sister can get a suplemental in the DAR for our Chism side.
Thanks, Bill Chism
