"John Howdershell, one of three sons of Jacob and Elizabeth Howdeshell, was born about the year of 1774 in the state of Virginia. The idea has been explored that the people didn't move as much as the boundary lines. The first census of Kentucky lists Jacob in 1790 living in Lincoln County, KY.Lincoln County, KY originated out of Kentucky County, VA.Likewise, Barren County, KY was created from Lincoln County, KY.Jacob's will is recorded in 1813 in Barren County, KY.So the people could have stayed in one place while the counties did the moving.
John married Joice Harrington on 6 February 1796 in Lincoln County, KY.To this union seven children were born. The children are listed as they appear in John's will and several census reports.
1.Elizabeth was born about 1796 or 1797 in KY.It is believed she married William Denton of Barren County, KY.

5.Malinda was born about 1805 in MO.She married John Jones.According to the 1850 census they had two sons.
6.Ann was born about 1808 in MO.She married Louis Beausied on 10 June 1850 in St. Louis, MO.
7.Maria was born about 1812 in MO.She married Larkin Doughty (Doty) on 21 November 1828 in St. Charles County, MO.We know of five children. In the 1850 census they were living in Hickory County, MO.By the 1860 census they had moved, not sure where.
John's first wife, Joice, died between the years 1836 and 1843.She is not recorded in the Fee Fee Cemetery burials. She may have been buried on their plantation.John married a second time, 1 April 1844, to Mrs. Sarah Forrester, a widow with three children.
