I have enclosed a family report for Joseph Howdeshell and Naomi McDaniel. After the death of Joseph Howdeshell in 1873, Naomi McDaniel Howdeshell next married Oliver Thompson Barnes Sr(in 1876). Together they had two children. It was the daughter of this union, Mary Naomi Barnes who married John Samuel Brown. (See #7 on the report for the descendant who married a BROWN)

Hope this helps........Tina

On 11 Jan 1861 when Naomi was 20, she first married Joseph Richard HOWDESHELL Sr.,
son of Joseph HOWDESHELL Sr. (~1769-<1845) & Mary ADAMS (~1772-1845), in Lincoln Co, MO.
Born abt 1805 in Lincoln County, Kentucky. Joseph Richard died in Lincoln County, Missouri abt 1873, he was 68. Buried (?) Cap Broyles searched for his grandfather's grave site for a long time, final resting place still remains "Unknown" (TMM).
Occupation: Farmer, Carpenter, Gunsmith.

Was a cabinet maker and carpenter by trade. "Cousin George Smiley wrote that grandfather William Matt Welch had corner cupboards made for Mother and Aunt Mary Springston. They were made of Wild Cherry Plant. These cupboards were made by Joe Howdeshell. The Howdeshell Cabinet Shop was just across the road, west of Frank Cochran's house (the Salt River Trail ran just West of Cochran's house, The Mill Creek mill was close by a bit, and the also close by the Smiley Inn so Cousin George's letter says)". Great grandmother's cabinet is in my dining room....
Dad (Lewis Brown) and Mother (Lena Springston Brown) said that "Uncle Joe" as Granny Morris (Ida) called him, was "Deaf and Dumb" but an excellent cabinet maker. I recall a small walnut table in Granny's (Ida's) kitchen that held the water bucket, the hand basin, and soap. Uncle Joe made that pretty little table...LFBG
