Hi Murray,

I suspect that your William is actually the son of Samuel Howden and Hester Cummins. Samuel was the son of James. Thus William would be James' grandson, not son. Samuel was born in Ontario and married in Wisconsin. He had one son named William born in 1875, and another son called Samuel who moved to Beach, Billings County, ND. So that seems to fit. I can give you all the details if you'd like.
