Just happened on this site. My father-in-law's father was raised in East Lothian. Prestonkirk--there is a Howden estate there. I have family tree starting with William Howden m Magdalene Dudgeon in 1744. His son Andrew b 1769 m Agnes Dunbar 1819 and they lived on the estate. Their children: William 1820 m Elizabeth 1843, Alexander 1822, Andrew 1824 m Elizabeth Cowan, Janet 1829 m Francis Dixon. Andrew Howden married Elizabeth Cowan at Lawhead (? name of estate)by the Minister of Whitekirk. They had Andrew 1856, Thomas 1858- (m Minnie Mattick 1897), Elizabeth 1860 (m William Harris),Alexander 1862,William 1864,John 1865 (m Dora),Agnes 1866, Janet 1868. I have names and dates of the generation before this and after if anyone is interested. The daughter of Elizabeth and William Harris, Kathleen Fisher lived on the estate until late 1900's. She died in 1989. I believe the estate has been sold. Andrew and Elizabeth owned and lived on the estate. If anyone has more info on this family I would love to hear it.
