Hi,I think Elizabeth Penny nee Howden was my grandmothers sister. My Gran was Lily Howden. Their mother was Janet Howden nee Polson. She had 8 children 4 girls ,and 4 boys
The Girls were Elizabeth, Lily, Jean, and Anny.the Boys were George, Jimmy, Alex,I think the other was either Willie or Robert. They Lived in A place called Galashiels in the Scottish Borders.Alex was killed at the battle of Mons France in 1915. He was serving with the Argyll and Sutherland highlanders.Lizzie Anny,George,Jimmy And Willie/Robert emigrated to the USA I think the Boys ended up in California, the Girls in Philladelphia.I think they had an uncle who had a tile business in San Francisco ,so they went to work for him.Jimmy the youngest got homesick and returned to Galashiels. My Gran and Great aunt Jean visited lizzie and the rest of the family in 1949/50
And stayed for about 3 months they loved the States
Talked about the trip all the time Hpoe this is of use Colin
