CHILDREN Moses Elston and Thankful Howard:
Spencer S. ELSTON. Born in 1800, probably in New York. He married Polly M. Sturm on 7 April 1861 in Stark County, Illinois. They were married by Peter Sturm, M. G. (S5). Spencer enlisted in Company B, Illinois 112th Infantry Regiment on 20 September 1862. He died 12 December 1862 in Lexington, Fayette County, Kentucky.
Jesse ELSTON. Born in 1806 in New York. He married Hannah Decker. He is found in 1860 in Osceola Twp., Stark Co., Ill, with wife Hannah, (age 49 b. in Pa.). At the 1850 census the data is similar, Hannah’s age being given, however, as 37. He was a farmer. He was still living there in 1870. Mrs. Nellie C. Reimers has written that Jesse, Spencer his brother, and Abigail his sister, set out in 1836 from Bradford Co., Pa. for Henry Co., Ill., but Jesse and Spencer stayed in Cincinnati. It appears, therefore, that Jesse stayed somewhere near there partly through the 1840’s before moving to Stark Co., Ill. He obtained land from his parents in 1855 and bought other land in 1874 and sold land several different times. He died 7 March 1891 in Stark County, Illinois.
[F110]. William Everet ELSTON. [PC H8]. Born on 31 March 1809 in New York. He married (1) Permelia about 1830, probably in Bradford County, Pennsylvania. He married (2) Elizabeth (Eliza-S5) SWEET on (2-S1)(3-S1,S2,S5) MAY 1840 in Stark County, Illinois. They were married by by Samuel Camp, J. P. (S5). William died on 3 June 1877 in Magalia, Butte, California; and was buried in the Clear Creek Cemetery in Pentz, Butte County, California.
Abigail A. ELSTON. Born 22 June 1814 at Cayuta, Tioga, New York. She married Richard MASCALL (S3) on 14 June 1832 in Bradford County, Pennsylvannia. She died on 8 April 1873 Cambridge, Henry, Illinois; and was buried in the Mascall Private Family Cemetery.
Everett Matthias ELSTON. Born 1817 in New York. He married Mary HOWARD on 5 July 1840 in Stark County, Illinois. They were married by by Samuel Camp, J. P. (S5). He died in 1847 in Stark County, Illinois.
Cornelius ELSTON. [Could he be Luther Cornelius Elston?]. Born 4 July 1822 in Cayuta, Tioga County, New York. He married (1) Eliza Terry on 12 January 1845 in Henry, Illinois. He is in the 1860 Census at Annawan, Henry, Illinois. He is in the 1870 Census in Drywood, Bourbon County, Kansas. He died 1 October 1890 at Fort Scott, Marmaton, Bourbon, Kansas.
George Washington ELSTON. Born in 1826-1828 in Athens, Bradford County, Pennslyvannia. He married Mary Ann IMES on 5 November 1848 in Stark County, Illinois. They were married by Joshua Gilfinan, J.P. (S5). He died in 1905 in Davis City, Decatur County, Iowa.
Another possible child could be Hannah. Morris Kirkpatrick married Hannah A. Elston on 24 March 1861 in Stark county, Illinois, by Peter Sturm, M. G. (S5).
Another possible child could be Elisha. Elisha Elston married Maria Rickey on 14 February 1861 in Stark County, Illinois, by W. J. Smith, M. G. (S5).
Thankful Elston. She married G.W. Longmire on 21 May 1854 in Stark County, Illinois, by Jacob E, Jones, J. P. (S6).
