Hello, I am Peggy Hovis Smith, and I have spent two very interesting days tracking down my father's family. We received mailings from the Johan Theodor Hofius Reunion Assn, but nothing seemed to fit. Then I found some info that someone in the family sent us about 50 years ago when my sister had to make a family tree in high school! The George Hovis, Sr, Lincoln County, NC (Catawba River area) line is the one that is mine.It is so exciting! At some point, Anna Elizabeth Heyl and George Hovis moved to Tennessee, and one of their sons, Frederick, married Mary Rudisill and their son, Levi Weiss Hovis, married Rachel Murdock.Levi's and Rachel's son, William H. Hovis, married Sara Alice Hope. They were my father's grandparents.I have their burial information.Their son, William Mathis Hovis, married Naomi O. Robinson. They were my grandparents and they lived near Rives, Tennessee. My father, Floyce W. Hovis, was born in Rives, TN, on June 27, 1905, and he died April 14, 1975. His brother, Grady, is also deceased. They are listed in the great "Descendants of Juergen Heyl" genealogy, but their birth dates are wrong and my father's name is incorrectly listed as "Floyd."But I noticed that you had the N.C. connection and I'd love to know there is some "family" out there!Sorry my message is so long. Thank you so much.Peggy
