James Houston was a celebrated marksman who killed the standard-bearer of King James as His Majesty approached the walls of Londonderry. Mr. Houston’s son Christopher Houston, a boy of nine years old, was with him during the siege. A descendant of above James Houston, was the Rev James Houston of Ballindrait who received his training in the seminary (academy at Strabane). That boy, Christopher Houston, afterwards became the father of three sons (?); 1) the grandfather of the Rev. James Houston, Ballindrait, Lifford, co. Donegal; 2) the grandfather of : Ross Houston, Edergole, James Houston, Lifford, Strabane John Houston, Ballynahatty, Omagh Patrick Houston, Beragh, Moagh; 3) the g-grandfather of the Rev.
